The Elecrow Crowtail-Water Sensor 2.0 is used to detect water based on changes in electrical signals. Its design comprises exposed conductive tracks that are alternately connected to ground and as sensor contacts. A 1 MΩ pull-up resistor keeps the sensor contacts at a high signal level. As soon as water establishes a conductive connection between earth and sensor contact, the electrical signal changes. This change can be detected by digital or analogue inputs of a microcontroller. The measurement also allows conclusions to be drawn about the intensity of the water contact.
The functional principle utilises the electrical conductivity of water. The contact surface of the sensor reacts to moisture by influencing the state of the signal voltage. This enables precise and simple detection, for example for detecting rain, leaks or overflows in tanks.
The sensor has a standardised crowtail interface with a JST-PH 2.0 4-pin connection. This enables a direct and solder-free connection to Crowtail base boards and other compatible microcontroller platforms such as Arduino. The compact design and low power consumption make the module particularly suitable for mobile, battery-powered or space-critical applications.
Typical applications include DIY projects, educational applications and IoT systems where liquid monitoring is required.
