Espressif
Espressif – the chip behind the IoT boom
Espressif Systems was founded in Shanghai in 2008 and changed the maker scene in 2014 with a single product: the ESP8266. A microcontroller with built-in WiFi for a couple of euros – until then a combination that had been either expensive or complicated.
The successor ESP32 added Bluetooth, a second processor core, more memory and a wide range of interfaces. Today the family covers everything from the compact ESP32-C3 with RISC-V core to the powerful ESP32-S3 with AI acceleration for voice and image recognition.
What makes the platform strong is the ecosystem: the official ESP-IDF framework, support in the Arduino IDE, MicroPython, ESPHome and Tasmota. This makes the same chip accessible to beginners and professionals alike – which is why it powers a large share of commercial smart home devices.
At BerryBase you will find Espressif modules and development boards for IoT, home automation and networked projects of every size.
