Description
Product information "Gravity digital peristaltic pump, liquid system, 5W, ≥45ml/min, BPT tube, 5-6V"
The Gravity Digital Peristaltic Pump is an actuator for liquid systems. The pump integrates a PPM motor driver on the pump, this is a Gravity interface motor driver (PH2.0-3P). The control signal is compatible with standard servo motors, so you can use Arduino, Raspberry Pi, micro:bit and other microcontrollers to control the direction and flow speed.
The tube in the pump head is made of BPT material, which is acid-resistant and durable. Peristaltic pumps are a type of positive displacement pump that delivers small volumes of liquid. The liquid is held in a flexible tube inside a circular pump housing. As the rotor rotates continuously, the liquid is pushed inside the tube and transported to the other side. In this way, the liquid flow rate can be easily and precisely controlled.
Example application: Fully automatic irrigation and fertilisation system
In a fully automatic irrigation system, the Gravity: Digital Peristaltic Pump can be used to precisely dose water together with various nutrient solutions. Each pump could be assigned to a specific fertiliser, and the precise control makes it possible to supply each fertiliser exactly as required.
What makes the Gravity: Digital Peristaltic Pump particularly suitable for such systems?
Isolated liquid feed: The peristaltic pump delivers liquids through a flexible hose located in a circular housing. This means that the liquid never comes into contact with the moving parts of the pump, avoiding the risk of contamination. This is particularly important when different fertilisers need to be mixed without cross-contamination occurring.
Precise flow control: With integrated PPM motor driver technology, the pump enables precise control of the flow speed and direction. This is essential for systems that need to feed different fertilisers in exact ratios to create optimal growing conditions.
Implementation:
System setup: Several peristaltic pumps are integrated into the irrigation system, each for a different type of fertiliser. The pumps are connected via hoses to a central nutrient reservoir.
Control: A microcontroller (e.g. Arduino or Raspberry Pi) is used to control the pumps. The microcontroller receives information from soil moisture sensors and controls the pumps accordingly to supply the required amount of water and nutrients.
Programming: The pump is programmed to respond to the specific needs of different plants based on pre-programmed irrigation schedules that take into account the individual requirements of each plant species.
