Product information "NeoPixel Reverse Mount RGB LEDs, SK6812-E 10-pack"
These reverse mount NeoPixel LEDs are an easy way to add lots of small (but bright!) coloured LEDs to your project if you want the top of the PCB to be flat or want to simplify fabrication with components on one side only. They are only 3.1mm x 2.7mm x 1.7mm and can be back-mounted using the top pads and a cut-out in the PCB and are not too difficult to solder by hand thanks to the long pads!
The driver chip is inside the LED and has a constant current of ~12mA, so the colour is very consistent even if the voltage varies and no external choke resistors are required, keeping your design minimal. Power each LED with 5VDC and you're ready to go. There are three LEDs inside, red, green and blue. The RGB LEDs are controlled by a tiny chip that takes a 24-bit colour level via the clock and data input and then does all the PWM control for you. So you only have to "set" the colour data once.
Like all NeoPixels, you can couple them together, the output of one leads to the input of another, so you can create almost infinitely long strips. We've used these in our NeoKey boards so that the LED shines through a cut-out of the PCB - but there are many use cases for back-mounted LEDs. Note that a cut-out is required and the body of the LED fits into the cut-out. Supplied in a pack of 10 individual LEDs. Light comes into the dark with Adafruit NeoPixel
One extremely popular product line from the company's broad portfolio is Adafruit NeoPixel. These nifty LED components come in a wide variety of designs and color temperatures. Safety instructions
