The Grove - 6-Axis Accelerometer & Gyroscope (BMI088) is an inertial measurement unit (IMU) with six degrees of freedom (6 DoF). The sensor is based on the BMI088 chip from Bosch and combines a 16-bit three-axis gyroscope and a 16-bit three-axis accelerometer. The IMU is designed for applications with high vibration loads and has integrated vibration suppression.
The sensor offers an extended measuring range of up to ±24g to avoid signal distortions during strong accelerations. The gyroscope and accelerometer can be operated individually or synchronised. The BMI088 is characterised by optimised temperature behaviour with a low temperature coefficient for offset and sensitivity. Communication takes place via an I2C interface. Thanks to the Grove interface, the module can be integrated directly into Grove-compatible systems.
The Grove - 6-axis accelerometer & gyroscope (BMI088) is designed for the detection of movement and rotation in three spatial directions. The sensor enables a combined measurement of linear accelerations and rotational movements. Typical applications can be found in drones, household robots, industrial robotic systems and toys with a flight function. The high vibration resistance and temperature stability make it suitable for environments with changing mechanical conditions.
The module can be used both in individual axes and in combined synchronous operation. The measuring range is configurable depending on the application and ranges from ±3g to ±24g for the accelerometer and from ±125°/s to ±2000°/s for the gyroscope. This scalability supports various application scenarios with different precision requirements.
