Product information "seeed Grove - 8 Channel I2C Multiplexer / I2C Hub (TCA9548A)"
The Grove - 8 Channel I2C Multiplexer/I2C Hub is based on the TCA9548A I2C multiplexer chip. It enables up to eight I2C devices with identical addresses to be connected to the same Grove I2C system. By utilising time division multiplexing technology, eight devices with the same address can be controlled without causing address conflicts.
The module has eight Grove I2C ports and supports both 3.3V and 5V systems. In contrast to the previous Grove I2C hubs with four or six ports, this is not just an extension of the number of ports, but a solution for managing I2C devices with identical addresses.
The Grove - 8 Channel I2C Hub is suitable for the expansion of I2C device interfaces and enables the construction of complex systems in which several identical I2C components are to be used simultaneously. Applications can be found in projects that require a large number of identical I2C sensors or actuators.
The module solves the typical problem that in a conventional I2C system each connected component requires a unique address. With the Grove - 8 Channel I2C Hub, multiple devices with the same address can be used by splitting the control over time.
