Product information "seeed Grove - Gas Sensor (MQ2)"
The Grove - Gas Sensor (MQ2) is a module for detecting gas leaks in the private and industrial sectors. It detects various gases such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), isobutane, methane, alcohol, hydrogen and smoke. The sensor is based on the MQ2 gas detector and is characterised by a fast response time and adjustable sensitivity. This can be manually adjusted via an integrated potentiometer.
The module offers a wide detection range and is designed for stable long-term use. The Grove-compatible interface enables simple integration into existing systems without soldering. The output is via a digital or analogue interface and is compatible with common microcontroller platforms such as Arduino.
The sensor is suitable for air quality monitoring projects, gas leak detection in safety applications and for use in automated control systems. Its ability to detect various flammable gases and smoke makes it versatile. Typical areas of application include households, workshops, industrial plants and IoT systems with air quality monitoring.
The sensor reacts to increased concentrations of the gases mentioned with a change in resistance in the sensor element. This change is analysed by the microcontroller. The detection quality can be adapted to different ambient conditions by calibrating and adjusting the potentiometer. When using the device, please note that hot-swapping the Grove connection during operation can damage the electronics. The power supply should be switched off before reconnecting.
