The Grove - High-precision barometric pressure sensor (DPS310) is a digital sensor module for recording air pressure and temperature. The sensor is based on the DPS310 from Infineon and is suitable for measuring the smallest height differences in the centimetre range using precise pressure measurements. The measuring range for pressure is between 300 and 1200 hPa, the temperature range extends from -40 °C to +85 °C. The sensor offers a pressure resolution of 0.06 PaRMS (equivalent to 0.01 m), a pressure precision of ±0.002 hPa (equivalent to ±0.02 m) and a relative accuracy of ±0.06 hPa (equivalent to ±0.5 m).
The sensor's current consumption is 1.7 µA for pressure measurements and 1.5 µA for temperature measurements at a sampling rate of 1 Hz. In standby mode, the power consumption is only 0.5 µA. The sensor has a Grove interface for I2C communication and a 6-pin SPI interface. This allows the sensor to be used directly with Seeeduino or Arduino in conjunction with a base shield without additional soldering. It supports both 3.3 V and 5 V systems.
The sensor is suitable for measuring changes in altitude, for temperature monitoring and for the precise determination of air pressure values. Thanks to its high measuring accuracy, the sensor can be used in applications where the smallest height differences or pressure fluctuations are relevant. Fields of application include indoor navigation (e.g. changing floors in buildings), altitude measurements in sports and health applications, improving GPS accuracy in navigation systems, weather stations for local forecasting and in drones for attitude stabilisation and altitude control.
The sensor can be used for barometric measurements, altitude determination and temperature monitoring. The combination of high accuracy, low power consumption and simple connection via Grove or SPI interface enables use in microcontroller-based systems, especially in mobile, battery-powered or compact projects. The digital acquisition of both measured variables enables versatile applications in navigation, environmental monitoring or autonomous systems.
