Description
Product information "SparkFun Qwiic - Pulse Oximeter and Heart Rate Sensor, MAX30101 & MAX32664"
The MAX30101 uses its internal LEDs to reflect light from the arteries and arterioles in the subcutaneous layer of your finger, and uses its photodetectors to measure how much light is absorbed. This is called photoplethysmography. This data is sent to and analysed by the MAX32664, which uses its algorithms to determine heart rate and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2). The SpO2 results are expressed as the percentage of haemoglobin that is saturated with oxygen. In addition, the sensor provides useful information such as confidence in its reporting as well as a handy finger recognition data point. To get the most out of the sensor, we've written an Arduino library that makes it easy to set up all kinds of configurations.
