Description
Product information "SparkFun RedBoard Edge"
With the RedBoard Edge, we have redesigned the original RedBoard so that everything that is "user-side" is on one side of the board and everything that is "project-side" is on the other side of the board. On the user side are the 2.1 mm jack socket, a micro USB port, a right-angled power switch, four status LEDs (RX, TX, pin 13, & PWR) and a reset button. On the project side, there is a 2-port screw connector, a Qwiic connector, and pins grouped by function (PWM, ADC, SPI), with power rails for 5V and ground running parallel to each grouping. There are also 4-pin power rails for 5V and 3.3V right next to the 5mm 2-pin screw connector, which is connected to VIN via the toggle switch on the front of the board. One of the coolest things about the RedBoard Edge is the ability to ground the board to the chassis via the standoffs next to the jack and screw connector. You can choose to connect the chassis ground to the USB shield, the board ground, or both!
Like the SparkFun RedBoard, the RedBoard Edge can be programmed with the Arduino IDE via a micro USB cable: Simply plug in the board, select "Arduino UNO" from the board menu and you're ready to upload code. The Edge can be operated with a voltage of 7 to 15VDC and you can supply it with power via USB or via the socket.
